Simple Mystery |
(To William Blake) Simple Mystery For shall my soul not cease to be And ponder for eternity, It will forever hence decree That life's a simple mystery.
Behold the gentle poet's tale: A brief light shining through the veil, As fog-enshrouded senses fail, 'Perceive the wick and candle's bail.
Thru ear and mouth and nose and eye, How oft the feeble senses lie, But shining in the sunlit sky, The truth of life can never die;
For thru the dreary fears of night We often seek a guiding light, Unhampered by our stubborn sight, We'd bask in love and pure delight --
Where soul and body are as one, And when that union is undone Our energies will carry on -- And know no bounds nor single sun;
For shall my soul not cease to be And ponder for eternity, It will forever hence decree That life's a Simple Mystery. |
