I Heard The River Speak

That restful moment by the creek,

I thought I heard the river speak.

She called to me from far away

And spoke this water's yesterday.

Of oceans proud, she'd had a few.

She'd flown the crest as monsoons blew,

And from the bottom of a lake,

She'd watched the sacred dawn to break :

To flood the land

And then move on

To places lower

Here and gone.
